Michael Kevane

One of the original developers of the Understanding Sudan online curriculum site, Michael Kevane is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University. There he teaches courses on the Economics of Gender in Developing Countries, African Economic Development, and International Economics. Dr. Kevane first conducted research in Sudan in 1985 in Rufa'a and conducted dissertation research in Kordofan in 1989-90. He has continued to write on Sudan. From 2002-2005, he was the president of the Sudan Studies Association. He also studies political economy in Burkina Faso, and is the founder and director of the non-profit organization Friends of African Village Libraries.
